Yonkers, NY- based company is currently in need of remote Property Accountant!

 

About the Role:

The Property Accountant supports the Accounting team by overseeing key financial processes and maintaining accurate reporting across property portfolios. This role is responsible for completing month-end close activities, preparing financial reporting packages, and delivering cash flow insights that support informed business decisions.

Reporting to the Controller, the Property Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining organized accounting records, and contributing to operational and financial performance through detailed analysis and proactive financial management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform cash-basis month-end close processes accurately and on schedule
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for leadership review
  • Conduct weekly cash flow analysis and provide liquidity recommendations to management
  • Review financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
  • Reconcile financial information and ensure reporting consistency
  • Support ongoing financial operations related to property accounting activities
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather financial information and resolve discrepancies
  • Utilize reporting tools and spreadsheets to analyze and present financial performance
  • Spend approximately 0–25% of the shift handling phone communication

Qualifications & Skills

Important Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting
  • 2+ years of property accounting experience
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial analysis and reporting functions
  • Knowledge of cash-basis accounting and month-end close processes
  • Financial reporting and account reconciliation experience
  • Ability to analyze cash flow and provide actionable recommendations
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a structured environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  4. Back-ups in case of power or Telco interruptions
  5. Good headset and webcam (Preferably noise-canceling headset)
